2014 wedding Season | Alberta & Destination Wedding Photographer

As I am in the middle of my wedding season 2015, patiently waiting for my computer to catch up.................I had some time to reflect on the year thus far and past years. Weddings all over Alberta and Destination wedding in Mexico, Dominican and Costa Rica, what an amazing ride it has been. Each year is filled with new faces, new love and new stories, each unique and romantic in there own way. From time to time even old faces, bridesmaids from past weddings that I now get the pleasure of capturing, which just makes it even more special.

Each year fills my heart and soul, how could it not so much love, smiles and laughter and the best part...........I get the honor of capturing it all for years to come. My Brides and Grooms hold a special spot in my heart, I treasure their love stories forever feeling like they are a part of my own family. I recently listened to a speaker talk about community with our clients and how truly understanding someones story is what makes our art that much more meaningful.
This is one of my biggest goals at a consult and the time leading up to a wedding. I want to know you, your soulmate, your connection together,  your family and what you hold dear. Everyone has their own fairy tale and it is those details that I look for and the way my clients open up that allow me to bring it to life.

I could document a wedding day, be the hired photographer that everyone looks sideways at, constantly looking for that in, just getting what I need. The wedding day would still be there for all to see, documented and archived in all it's beauty.
YA RIGHT..............I prefer smiles, laughter, hugs and tears. Having a bride that trust's me like one of her bridesmaids and light's up to see me, a mother who doesn't hold back her emotions and leans on me behind doorways as she gives her child away, a groom that looks to me for solid ground as he awaits the best moment of his life. A bride and groom that show all their love for the world to see. A fairy tale unfolding before your very eyes!

That's where you'll find me!

Don't get me wrong I have done the other, it has happened and it makes me sad. "You can't win them all", attitude doesn't work me. For me I did something wrong along the way and forever will analyze it (driving my husband insane).
Ever want to know how much I hold each and every client dear......ask my husband he knows their whole life stories as I can't help but talk about all their joy.

Thank you to all my past and present brides and grooms, it is you who makes my season worth it and it is you who reminds me daily what love and life is all about!

Here's a tribute to the AJ Brides and Grooms of 2014, pssst this is long but they all deserve it. Happy 1st Anniversary to you and thank you for letting me be a part of it all.

S & K Kaufmann Winter Wedding | AJ photography | Stony Plain Wedding Photographer

Sarah and Kelly are 2 very amazing people and I had so much fun with them, a little goofy and full of smiles we braved the cold and it was colddddddd! Their wedding was held at the Stony Plain Golf Course and just as we headed out for pictures the sun came right out giving us so wonderful light. Sarah smiled ear from ear and was stunning while Kelly was always laughing and full of humor this truly was a special day for them both and they were soaking it all up. I thank you for letting me be a part of this special time and I heard that the smiles and laughter kept right on through the night may you have many more years of smiles to come.

S&A Wedding Grand Sirenis Mexico | Stony Plain Destination Photographer

There is nothing more romantic then saying I do on the beaches of Mexico. The white sand and crystal waters of the Mayan make for a beautiful backdrop that reflects a true fairytale. A time when family and friends can gather and celebrate every moment with you.

January 30th 2014 marked many anniversarys for Shantel and Adam making this day one to remember forever, bringing them together at last as Mr. and Mrs Bauer. This group was so welcoming and nothing short of hilarious they had Matt and I in stitches all the time with their quick one liners and bubbling personalities we just couldn't get enough. They all made our work holiday absolutely amazing and contributed in so many ways to making this Mexico wedding all it could be.

I had met Shantel a couple times and really loved her down to earth and warm personality, she is not afraid to tell you how it is but has such a way of doing it. I had commented on her stunning ring and her response was 6 years worth you betch ya, I couldn't help but laugh. After visiting with both Shantel and Adam I was more then excited and honored to photograph them and tell their story. In the early fall at their engagement session was when I grew great respect for their love. Although a bit unsure in front of the camera once their eyes locked there was something truly magical and all you could do was watch it unfold.

I am someone who thinks of my clients as more then just clients but more like friends, I like to understand them. So one of my favorite things is when I get a moment to truly interact with each person and see their personalities and the look they get when talking about each other. Shantel is strong, happy, has concern for everyone and keeps everything together but a mention of Adams name and she grins (sometimes good sometimes bad lol) and when Adam looks at her there is a ease that overcomes her with a smile like none other. Adam is so full of life, always watching, a bit of mischief but very thoughtful and would do anything for Shantel his compassion and concern for her knows no bounds.

Together these two compliment each other, pure of heart and down to earth. There love is is truly captivating!

When doing a destination wedding the little personal touches really stand out. Keeping true to who she is, Shantel made sure no one was left out including those only with them in spirit. From the charms and locket hanging from the stem of her flowers to the pictures displayed at the wedding everyone was altogether for this one special day.

Thank you for having me be a part of your amazing day and the journey along the way.
