Upon booking, a phone or e-mail pre-consultation will take place where we will discuss the style and details of your session. Sessions range between 1-2 hours, with newborn sessions usually taking longer. I shoot in studio or on-location it is your choice. Location suggestions are always welcome! If you have a non-traditional or private location of preference, let me know, as I will need to assess the area in advance to ensure it is suitable for your session. A week before your session you will receive a reminder e-mail with a list of things to bring.
At your session we will go through a serious of shots based on the style discussed earlier, any ideas are always welcome and payment for your session will be due.
Within a week of your session, a sneak peek of a few of your images will be up on the blog. 3-4 weeks following your session, your images will be available in a private online gallery for 30 days, for sharing with friends and family and placing your print order. These images will all be lightly touched up and some artistically edited. I will do in person reviews for placing orders upon request. After orders are placed depending on the size and type of order, product will be ready for pick-up within 2-4 weeks.
SCHEDULING:
WHAT TO WEAR:
As far as shoes are concerned… I love bare feet. When possible, you will probably be asked to kick off those shoes and let your toes breath. Feel free to accessorize with brimless hats, scarves, vests, and leggings. Colorful knit hats and beanies look great on children. Newborns are best photographed in nothing at all.
You are welcome to bring a selection of different outfits to your session so we can mix and match depending upon the location. Clothing options will be discussed in detail during the pre-session consultation. Each session is unique the more personal props or accessories the better.
MATERNITY
NEWBORN
It is best to schedule newborn sessions as early as possible. Contact me as soon as you know you are interested in a newborn session, so we can reserve a general date. I can’t stress enough how important it is to photograph newborns within the first 10 days of life; ideally around 5-6 days old. After this short window, achieving the classic newborn poses becomes more and more difficult.
I have an assortment of blankets and wraps to experiment with, but please feel free to accessorize with your own as it makes it more personal. Babies are best photographed in their nude, but diaper covers can be a nice addition when wearing a diaper. Moms and dads should bring a solid black and/or white shirt for themselves for portraits when holding the baby is required. Plan for extra feedings with no true time limit, and the aiding in sleeping baby, more then a few times I have had clients wishing they had brought more food. Newborn sessions can take longer, as diaper changes, feedings and awake babies can slow the process. Do not worry I will devote whatever time necessary to capture your precious newborn.
